Mountaineer Coaching Staff

Coach Bennett is a 1995 graduate of Alcoa High School where he was a pitcher and outfielder and a 2000 graduate of Maryville College where pitched four years. He received his Masters Degree in 2003 and in 2005 received his Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.

Coach Bennett began his coaching career in 2000 as an assistant coach at Alcoa High School, helping lead them to a district championship and a regional runner up. In 2001, he joined Heritage High School as an assistant coach and was promoted to head coach in 2002.

In 2005, Coach Bennett was selected as head coach of the TBCA East Showcase team. He was also chosen in 2007-2009 as an assistant coach for the Team Tennessee Sunbelt Baseball Team. Coach Bennett is married to the former Melissa Gomez. The couple has a daughter born in 2008 and a son due in May 2009.

Coach Lindsey started his coaching career with the Mountaineers and has coached in the program for 4 years. He was an All-South Atlantic Conference 2nd Baseman for Carson Newman College during 2001-2004 Seasons where he won two Conference Championships. Coach Lindsey is a Physical Education teacher at Heritage High School and is the FCA representative for the school.

Coach West graduated from Heritage High School in 2002 and lettered in Baseball and Football. From 2004-2006 he was an Assistant Coach for the Heritage Summer Baseball team. He graduated from Maryville College in 2006 and has a B.A. in History and where he also lettered in Baseball and Football. He was Head Baseball Coach at Heritage Middle School in 2007-08. He is married to wife Kacie.

Coach Leatherwood graduated in 1999 from Maryville High School. He has coached in the Mountaineer program for 3 years and Football program for 6 years. He is a graduate of Maryville College in 2003 with a B.A. in Political Science and History and from LMN with a Masters in Educational Supervision and Administration.

Coach McMurray graduated in 2001 from William Blount High School. He played baseball all 4 years and helped at the High School. He is married to April and has a 3 year old daughter, Kylie.
